Project Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Middle DBA Engineer to contribute to the maintenance and optimization of our company’s databases. This position requires a person with a good technical background in Oracle (and ideally in Postgress too) database administration, who will be able to provide on-call support for our end-customers out of working hours during the 2 weeks shifted time schedule, including weekend (2 weeks on-call duty, when 2 weeks rest). On-call support during the work days and hours, Monday – Friday, is carried out by an inhouse development team.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance and optimization of company databases to ensure availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, restores, and patching, to uphold data integrity and availability.
  • Monitor database performance metrics and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators, to support application deployments and troubleshoot database-related issues.
  • Adhere to database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call, out of working hours duty, to provide 2-weeks shifted support for critical database incidents and emergencies.

Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in database administration, with a focus on relational databases such as Oracle and Postgres.
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting and query optimization techniques.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call duty, out of working hours, 2-weeks shifted schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Good understanding of database architecture principles, including replication, clustering, and high availability configurations.
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members across different time zones.
